HEROIC, B8 become first CS2 teams to advance to BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 Stage 2

HEROIC and B8 have locked in their spots in the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 Stage 2 after breezing past their opponents in Stage 1, and securing the perfect 3-0 record on June 4.

While HEROIC were undoubtedly the best team in Stage 1 and almost everyone’s pick for one of the 3-0 spots in the BLAST.tv Austin Major Pick’Em Challenge, B8 are somewhat of a surprise. The Ukrainians were definitely in the mix, but a lot of people predicted they’d lose at least one match in Stage 1.

Even though HEROIC won all three games, they almost ruined some Pick’Ems. Alvaro “SunPayus” Garcia and co. had a slow start in their opening match versus Chinggis Warriors, but eventually picked up the slack to avoid what would be a historic upset.

From there, HEROIC carried on the momentum and made quick work of NRG in Round 2. The Turkish rifler Yasin “xfl0ud” Koç went particularly nuclear in that NRG game, getting various multikills and finishing with a 22-10 K/D.

FlyQuest gave HEROIC a run for their money in Round 3 as they won the second map of the series. However, HEROIC didn’t let the series escape from their hands, and completely dictated the rhythm on Mirage . The Belarusian rifler Andrey “tN1R” Tatarinovich put on a masterclass and delivered 61 kills in the best-of-three against FlyQuest.

B8 won some miraculous rounds to defeat Imperial by 13-11 in the opening round, and they also had to work hard to beat OG by 13-9 in Round 2.

Wildcard were better than B8 heading to their best-of-three match, and it looked like they’d qualify for Stage 2 first after winning Train, the first map of the series.

B8, then, had a strong reaction on Dust2 and won by 13-6 off the back of nearly flawless CT side, thus forcing Inferno. This is one of Wildcard’s best maps, but B8 were on top of their game, and handed the home team a 13-2 blowout.

Curiously, the Natus Vincere and Ninjas in Pajamas castoffs — Andrii “npl” Kukharskyi and Daniil “headtr1ck” Valitov — played very well against Wildcard and got 54 kills each in the best-of-three.
